To my 6th class students, another class which I have been privileged to teach and even learn a thing or 3 from since September!!!.........
I will not write too much here before our Graduation celebration on Tuesday evening. I will leave you with one request........ Always want to do what is right.........it's a start... Show your courage....when it is needed..... Treat others to your company if they treat you as you should be treated by them..... You will when you believe......... Watch this, read the lyrics and you will understand............ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wTWbZAqRJDc For what it's worth, I believe in you all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mr.Aylward "When You Believe" Many nights we prayed With no proof anyone could hear In our hearts, a hopeful song We barely understood Now we are not afraid Although we know there's much to fear We were moving mountains long Before we knew we could, oh yes There can be miracles when you believe Though hope is frail, it's hard to kill Who knows what miracles you can achieve When you believe, somehow you will You will when you believe Oh yeah, in this time of fear When prayer so often proves in vain Hope seems like the summer birds Too swiftly flown away Yet now I'm standing here My heart's so full, I can't explain Seeking faith and speaking words I never thought I'd say There can be miracles when you believe Though hope is frail, it's hard to kill Who knows what miracles you can achieve When you believe, somehow you will You will when you believe They don't always happen when you ask And it's easy to give in to your fear But when you're blinded by your pain Can't see your way clear through the rain A small but still resilient voice Says hope is very near, oh There can be miracles when you believe Though hope is frail, it's hard to kill Who knows what miracles you can achieve When you believe, somehow you will Somehow you will You will when you believe You will when you You will when you believe Just believe I believe, I believe Just believe You will when you believe Hi everyone, This weeks is ACTIVE SPORTS WEEK. I hope that you all commit to a week of extra activity this week. It is very important that we don't just make one week of our life an 'Active Week' each year. Activity should and must be part of our life- each day!! You are all very intelligent young people and you all know the benefits of physical activity (whatever type you enjoy). Please see links to activities for this week below. I would suggest that you use the following template each day this week. I have also included a GRADUATION BOOK which you might like to explore between now and next Wednesday. There are some nice pieces and ideas which you can complete to create a little piece for a memory box!! Talk soon, Mr.Aylward

- 25%
- 18/60 = 3/10= 30%
- Find 35% of €260 and add it to 260....Answer= €351
- 15%
- Find 3/8 of 152 and subtract it!!!...........Answer= €95
Fractions,decimals and percentages 3-Pg 48 Answers
- 207
- 154
- €14.45
- €184 plus 10% of 184 = €202.40
- €556
- €493
- €1792 plus 1/8 of 1792= €2016
- USE THE STRATEGY ON WORKLIST SHEET!!!!!!! Profit= €18, Fraction Profit= €18/90....now you have a fraction of 18/90 ......simplify it.......1/5.......= 20%.....so answer =20%
- 25%
- €442
- 30%
- 20%
- €504
- €396
- €465...because €372 was a loss price!!! So 372= 80% and not 100%........372=3/4.......so divide by 3 and multiply by 4
- €784...same as above.......784= 7/8 because 1/8 was taken off the original price.
- 7,900.....because 8295 = 105% .....in other words 8295 people includes the 5% or 1/20 increase!!!! 8295= 21/20....... divide by 21 and multiply by 20
- 33 and 1/3 %.......160/480......simplify it down....gives you 1/3.....the customer got 1/3 taken off the bill.......which is 33 1/3%
- First of all, find the euro increase....it is €45!! So to find a % we must first find a fraction.......45 out of 375 = 45/375.......simplify it 3/25........1/25=4%......so 3 of them= 12%...
- 62 1/2 % = 5/8...this is the key here!!! So €2520 is = 5/8 .....because it says it in the question!!! We are told twice that he puts an amount into the Credit Union!!...firstly it says 62.5% in the account and secondly it says €2520 in the account...so we know that they are the same thing!!!.....all the raffle prize is 8/8 so we divide €2520 by 5 to find 1/8....multiply by 8 to get all or 8/8.............Answer = €4032

**ZOOM TODAY @ 10.30 and 11am **
Work is listed below....!
Work is listed below....!
Hi boys and girls,
I want to compliment you all at this stage for your dedication to making the best out of this really 'unusual' situation. Sitting in class 3/4 weeks ago, possibly feeling sorry for ourselves that we had just missed the ESB science blast exhibition I wonder how many of us would have predicted that you would be reading a daily class blog this morning!!!!!
But as we often speak about in class, we can choose to be 'Glass Half Full'.......we can choose to try and find some silver lining in this dark cloud that is currently passing over us. This outlook or way of thinking must seem very hard for people who are losing their jobs, sick or possibly losing loved ones. Luckily for me, I can only imagine and try to empathise with those who are feeling this hardest.
To any of you whose parents are working as nurses or doctors or anybody who must continue to work at this time, make sure you support them and care for them- look after them with great kindness just as they do for you.
But Easter brings great hope.....so for the next 2 weeks let's rediscover the things that bring us real joy, peace and happiness.
NOT ONLY TO YOU BUT ALSO YOUR LOVED ONES......Maybe your Mam or Dad could do with some help, maybe your younger sibling would enjoy or need a book read to them.
You are all wonderful young people with a fabulous attitude. You have been so cooperative during our Zoom sessions and have helped yourselves. I am very proud of you all. Have a wonderful Easter. I am already looking forward to my dark chocolate.
Bain taitneamh as an Saoire Cháisc.
Mr.Aylward
P.S.
Happy Birthday to you

Information about Ratio **********
A ratio is a way to show a relationship or compare two numbers of the same kind.
We use ratios to compare things of the same type. For example, we may use a ratio to compare the number of boys to the number of girls in your class room. Another example would be to compare the number of peanuts to the number of total nuts in a jar of mixed nuts.
There are different ways we use to write ratios, and they all mean the same thing. Here are some of the ways you can write the ratios for the numbers of B (Boys) and G (Girls):
the ratio of B to G
B is to G
B:G
Note that when writing the ratio you place the first term first. This seems obvious, but when you see the question or ratio written as "the ratio of B to G" then you write the ratio B:G. If the ratio was written "the ratio of G to B" then you would write it as G:B
Also, you could compare a mixed bag of 20 fruit as follows:
If it contained 10 apples, 5 oranges, 3 bananas and 2 kiwis then the ratio is.....

Anyway, our walk brought all 5 of us to a part of a river flowing through the 'creek' or mini-valley near the motorway where I, along with my friends, built dams, wooden huts and rafts all those years ago. Fantastic times and memories !!! No time for dams on Saturday though- trying to keep Maggie out of the water was a task in itself. Make sure you all get outside and get creative when you can...It will keep your mind clear and in a healthy place.
**NO ZOOM TODAY- HOPEFULLY, WE'LL BE BACK TOMORROW, TUESDAY **
I have outlined some work below. Any questions, please post a comment to the blog
Conas atá sibh? Tá súil agam go raibh deireadh seachtaine álainn ag gach duine. My weekend brought me back to my childhood with my own children. Walked over fields that I have not trekked through since the huge snow storm of 2018. Anybody interested in reading up on it, feel free to hit the link below.

Mangahigh Assignments
LOGIN to your Mangahigh and complete one Assignment....You should start with simplifying fractions.
10:5:3:2
